Gameplay:

  • 3 new Hydra bosses: Defeat them all to gather the remaining soul powers.

    • Urschleim: The Passage boss. A challenge to be overcome.
    • The ??? boss: The final boss of the current chapter of our story.
  • New combat playstyles: Mage and Warlock.

    • These have been added through new equipment, weapons, skills, talents, and character backgrounds.
    • Mage playstyle: Focuses on consuming mana to deal great magical damage.
    • Warlock playstyle: Engages in combat by summoning minions to fight enemies.
  • New biome: The Passage:

    • A dangerous place at the edge of the world with roaming enemies and a big looming threat.
    • Surviving the Passage offers great rewards.
  • New world generation:

    • New worlds are no longer infinite, making exploration more rewarding.
    • Worlds are now created using a seed, making generated terrain, boss arenas, and unique items appear in the same locations.
    • New world generation parameters allow players to control key features like water and ore generation, biome chaos, etc.
    • Improved world layout with more structured tunnels, rivers, chasms, etc.
  • PvP: Added as an option that can be enabled through the pause menu.

    • Teams can be assigned for team battles.
  • Hivemother statue replacement:

    • Replaced by a statue of Malugaz the Corrupted, who is now the third story boss.
    • Hivemother changed to an optional boss. Difficulty and crafting options have been adjusted.
  • Waypoints: A new method to teleport through the world, occasionally found in key locations.

  • New items:

    • 53 new pieces of equipment.
    • 8 new weapons.
    • 1 new legendary weapon.
    • 3 new Summoning Tomes for summoning different minions.

    • Drape Ray: Can be found flying around in the Passage.

  • Skill updates:

    • Mining skill: “Self-mending alloy” replaces “Night vision”.
    • Gardening skill: “Feast for the eyes” replaces “Bottomless watercan”.
  • New potions:

    • Arcane Potion: Increases magic damage.
    • Pact of Power Potion: Increases minion damage.
  • Fishing updates:

    • Fishing minigame removed based on player feedback.
    • Fishing skill “Chewy Bait” replaces “Throwing Expert”.
    • Fishing skill “Angler’s advantage” changed to increase the chance of higher rarity fish.
  • New item drop:

    • A Giant Bug Brain now drops from Ra’Akar, which can be used to craft the new Hydra Altar in the Solarite Workbench.

Graphics:

  • Improved visuals:

    • The Core and the statues surrounding it.
    • Tree trunks.
    • Multiple hairstyles while a hat is equipped.
    • Seeds, with added color to make them more distinguishable.
    • Character creation UI.
  • Display settings:

    • Added Integer Scaling display setting: Resizes the game image to perfectly align with display pixels, making everything super sharp ("pixel-perfect").
  • Lighting and effects:

    • Implemented a new indirect lighting solution: More accurate, faster, and visually appealing.
    • Upgraded screen-space ambient occlusion: Now has a softer look with a smaller performance impact.
  • Camera improvements:

    • Improved the smoothness of the game camera when moving.

Balancing:

  • Food and potion duration:

    • Food buffs with a duration of 5 minutes have generally been increased to 10 minutes.
    • Increased the duration of Enrage Potion, Keen Potion, and Unusual Potion to 1 minute.
  • Mining and fishing adjustments:

    • Balanced health and damage reduction on walls, and mining damage done by tools, reducing the hits needed to destroy walls.
    • Reduced the number of hits required to max out the mining skill.
    • Reduced the number of catches required to max out the fishing skill.
  • Buff adjustments:

    • Changed starving and well-fed buffs to no longer affect movement speed.
    • Merged damage and max health conditions into one for readability.
    • Reduced max health reduction from starving to be less punishing.
  • Talent adjustments:

    • Increased damage from "Taking a step back" and "Charging in" talents.
    • Reduced values from "Meticulous miner" and "Poison coated weapons" talents.
    • Increased value from the "Not so picky" talent for better balance against the "Healthy diet" talent.
  • Loot and drop rates:

    • Increased the amount of materials and potions from chests throughout the world.
    • Increased visibility distance of ores with the Core Iris offhand.
    • Reduced drop chance for common valuables to avoid inventory bloat.
    • Nature and Mold Walls no longer drop any valuables or loot.
    • Increased the drop chance of the Cipher Parchment from Igneous the Molten Mass.
  • Item adjustments:

    • Adjusted several items (e.g., Glow Tulip, Scholar set, Fireball Staff) to use magic-related stats.
    • Some weapon projectiles now bounce off walls, objects, and creatures.
      • Sticky Stick projectiles: Bounce up to 3 times.
      • Galaxite Chakram projectiles: Bounce up to 4 times.
      • Throwing daggers: Windup attack adds up to 10 bounces.
    • Moved some crafting options between Alchemy Table and Distillery Table for better progression.
    • Adjusted materials required for some potions.
  • Combat changes:

    • Increased attack speed for equipment and consumables to be a more competitive stat.
    • Reduced portal charge-up time to half of its previous duration.
    • Recall idols now drop from more destructibles throughout the world.
    • Buffed damage of all melee weapons to make them more competitive with ranged weapons.
  • Boss and item changes:

    • Slightly increased the minimum number of items dropped by bosses.
    • Increased stack size to 9999 per item slot.
    • Reduced the number of hits required to max out the melee skill.
    • Reduced melee damage gained from the Miner's equipment set bonus.
  • Gemstone availability:

    • Mimites now have a small chance to drop Jungle Emeralds, Desert Rubies, and Ocean Sapphires.
    • Small Sun Crystals also have a small chance to drop these gemstones in their respective biomes.
  • Durability adjustments:

    • Adjusted durability of weapons and tools to match their attack speed.
    • Weapons and tools from old saves may be reinforced or have adjusted durability after the update.
  • Seed drop rates:

    • Reduced seed drops from destructibles in Azeos Wilderness and Desert of Beginnings.
    • Increased seed drops from enemies and crates in the Dirt biome.

Audio:

  • Ambient sounds: Increased the volume of several ambient sounds.
  • Sound effects:
    • Changed the sound effect for harvesting crops.
    • Improved audio for hitting explosive walls.

Bug Fixes:

  • Networking:

    • The game now uses a server-authoritative networking model with client-side prediction, solving various multiplayer bugs, especially with poor network connectivity.
  • UI and visuals:

    • Fixed a bug where text from the Core speaking would sometimes appear behind adjacent objects.
    • Fixed an issue where the shortcuts window would not show shortcuts correctly in Thai.
    • Fixed a bug where non-helm items would appear in the wrong slot for a few seconds when quick-moving using shift-click.
    • Fixed a bug where the "A Good Life" achievement would trigger for other players instead of the player feeding the cattle.
    • Fixed a bug where the Mold Tree received its own shadow under ceiling light.
    • Fixed a bug where certain objects (like pillars) appeared very dark under ceiling light.
    • Fixed a bug where boss damage reduction had no effect on some projectiles shot by bosses.
    • Fixed a bug where no error message was shown when a non-existing Game ID was provided.
    • Fixed a bug where a too-short Game ID caused an error.
    • Fixed an issue where map markers were not positioned pixel-perfectly, causing them to render weirdly.
    • Fixed an issue where the wrong colors on player clothes would be shown when eating a Spooky Pop Candy.
    • Fixed a bug where conditions on creatures would show up while hovering them in the player’s inventory in creative mode.
    • Fixed a bug that made some areas in the Wilderness spawn with normal tilled dirt ground instead of tilled grass.
    • Removed an evil stray pixel in the Lava Rock Block sprite.
    • Fixed a bug that caused certain tiles to be visible through water in the Water Well and Mold Well.
  • Gameplay mechanics:

    • Hoed nature ground no longer appears on the map, similar to other hoed ground types.
    • It is now possible to open cracked eggs by right-clicking on them in the hotbar.
    • Fixed an issue where enemies would sometimes attack murals with melody signs.
    • Fixed an issue where breaking the Crystal Snail shell would not drop any ore in casual mode worlds.
    • Fixed a bug where players could dodge and parry at the same time, causing unexpected behavior; now, parry takes priority over dodge.
    • Players are no longer stunned if parrying an attack that would otherwise stun them.
    • Conditions that are triggered when mining wall blocks, like the “Pick and run!” talent, no longer trigger if 0 damage is dealt to the wall block.
    • Fixed a multiplayer issue where players using rotated beds appeared to be sitting on the bed.

Other:

  • Merchant changes:

    • The Cloaked Merchant no longer sells the Flintlock Musket but now sells the summoning item used to resummon the ??? boss, available after defeating the ??? boss once.
  • World management:

    • Players can now export and import worlds via mod.io.
  • User interface improvements:

    • Added a loading indicator at the bottom right of the screen during game loading.
    • Updated credits.
    • Renamed the wall category in creative mode to “block” and moved base building walls to the base building category.
    • Added an inventory sort button to the player's inventory UI.
    • Players unlock the souls UI directly after talking to the Core and activating the statues, without needing to wait for the full dialogue.
    • Improved the ordering of items in the creative mode UI.
    • Added an option in UI settings to show keyboard numbers on the hotbar.
  • Creative mode additions:

    • The craftable Skeleton decor now has 2 slots like the Deceased Explorer.
    • Added Ancient Coins to the creative mode under the Other/Currency category.
  • Gameplay improvements:

    • Shrooman enemies no longer attack cattle.
    • The scene containing the Thread of Fate is now guaranteed to spawn in the Desert biome for new worlds.
    • Beach Blocks and Desert Blocks can now be smelted in the Glass Smelter.
    • Implemented rumble feedback on controllers, triggered by various in-game actions.
    • Items in the hotbar can now be used or consumed by right-clicking on them.
    • Made Glowbugs placeable on pits.
    • Changed the tiles that the Grubzooka and Burnzooka can destroy.
    • Reworked the pick-up system for a more stable animation when players pick up items.
  • Network and performance:

    • Ping value now shows only the network round trip time to the host or server instead of the full processing and network delay.
